Adam Shefler has spent nearly two decades building one of the most diverse and accomplished careers in the electrical industry. From pulling wire in the field to directing multi-million dollar operations across the country, Adam’s journey is defined by relentless drive, rapid growth, and an unwavering commitment to excellence — the same commitment he now brings directly to every homeowner and business he serves.
With 200+ projects and close to $200 million in managed revenue, Adam has delivered across virtually every sector of the construction industry — from 2.5-million-square-foot healthcare campuses and college stadium expansions to wastewater treatment plants, cold storage facilities, and high-rise towers. His career spans six states and includes contracts with USDA, CDC, and other public-sector agencies.
After years of proven leadership at the highest levels of the industry, Adam made a deliberate choice: take everything he’d built and bring it home. He founded Ironwood Construction Company LLC with a clear mission — give every customer the same level of service, communication, and transparency he demanded on $22 million contracts. The name says everything. Ironwood — the strongest, densest tree in the world. Unbreakable. Deep roots. A legacy that stands for generations. That’s not just a company name. That’s a promise to my family, my community, and every client who trusts us with their project.
I didn’t have a close bond with my direct family growing up. That’s exactly why I’m building something different. Every day I wake up and strive for execution — not just on jobsites, but at home. I’m instilling in my children how important it is to love each other, be there for each other, and build something that lasts. That’s what Ironwood Construction Company is: an unbreakable bond.
Caitlyn and I have been together since she was 17 and I was 18 — July 6, 2008. This year marks 18 years together. She has been my rock through everything. She made me who I am. She made me want to be who I am.
I had a rough couple of years at the start, but with her by my side I’ve done everything. She’s a stay-at-home mom who takes care of everything I cannot. She makes sure our kids are very well taken care of while I’m out building, coordinating, communicating, scheduling, estimating, and delivering projects at the highest level possible.
My wife and kids are the apple of my eye and the reason I get up every morning. Whether it’s coordinating, communicating, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, design-build, design-assist engineering, Revit, or virtual design — I love what I do because of who I do it for.
I grew up right here in Lake Township. Went to Lake Lehman. Went to Bishop O’Reilly. Graduated from Holy Redeemer. I’ve been local my entire life. I spent many days out on the lake, and I want my kids to have those same memories — but more than that, I want them to understand what it means to put your name on something.
When you deliver something excellent — when you build it, sign off on it, and hand it over — it’s still yours. Your name lives on that project for years to come. That’s what I’m teaching my children: own your work, take pride in every detail, and never hand over anything you wouldn’t put the family name on. When financials are an issue, I’ll meet the pricing and break down estimates to make sure the client gets what they need — because that’s what carrying the Ironwood name demands.
